Rireki-sho

Began the study of Japanese history in 1983 at the University of Louisville only to have it become a lifelong obsession.

Very shortly afterward moved to California and took up the study of Iaido, Japanese swordsmanship, an art I continue to practice to this day.

Under the infuence of my first Iai teacher I became interested in the study and appreciation of Japanese swords as art.

After many years study in California I was privileged to travel to Kamakura, Japan where I was able to pursue my studies in full for what turned out to be five very short years.

Now back in San Francisco I seek to ever deepen my understanding and I dedicate these humble webpages to my teachers and all those on the same path before and after me.
